Peter ‘Sleazy’ Christopherson of hugely influential industrial bands Throbbing Gristle & Coil dies

Throbbing-gristle.com has announced that on November 24th, 2010, Peter Christopherson passed away “peacefully in his sleep” at his home in Bankok. Peter was part of pioneering industrial band Throbbing Gristle, who emerged in 1975.? When that group initially broke up in 1981, he briefly joined bandmate Genesis P-Orridge in Psychic TV before forming the highly prolific Coil. Among other things, Peter was also well known as a video director, working with artists ranging from Front 242 to Hanson. Most recently, he was part of the re-united Throbbing Gristle. The group was forced to rebrand themselves as “X-TG” for a series of concerts without Genesis, who mid tour said he was returning home to NY (not quitting the band.) Several recordings X-TG here made available on their website. Peter also had an album in the works for his solo project The Threshold HouseBoys Choir.
