LIZ LYSINGER
The pool of musicianship bubbling out of Detroit is as assorted and colorful as a box of Jelly Belly. The same can be said for the prolific career of Motor City-native Liz Lysinger, whose experience as a composer, music editor, sound designer, mix engineer and performer has propelled her through the music industry .
A classically trained pianist, she has developed a mature sound that is smart, ethereal and chock full of nuance, from her delicate piano riffs to her electro-dance tracks.
In 1995, she attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she received degrees in music synthesis and film scoring. It was also in Boston that Liz joined the pro-space electronic pop band ZIA, launching intergalactic tunes across the East Coast and at space events.
During this time, she also recorded her debut album, "Falling Off My Bench," a collection of rambunctious yet poignant, piano-driven melodies.
Her film scoring credits expanded to include "The Same Side of Rejection Street" (1999, directed by S.G. Collins), which surfaced at the Sundance Film Festival and Rhode Island Film Festival.
In 1999, while promoting her album, Liz moved to New York City and continued to build upon her resume, assisting producer/songwriter Phil Galdston in working with recording artists such as Kathie Lee Gifford and Beckley-Lamm-Wilson.
In 2003, Liz aided Blue Man Group as a sound designer by providing chickens and cell phone ringtones for their touring show, with her work appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Later that year, her music editing, sound design and engineering chops contributed to Blue Man Group's DVD, "Complex Rock Tour Live!"
The following year, her music was licensed by Riptide Music and was included in "The
Forgotten" movie trailer.
Liz currently composes for movie trailers, commercials and independent films and has served as a music editor for 4Kids Productions since 2001, editing the music for Saturday morning cartoons on the WB and Cartoon Network. When she's not polishing episodes of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, she churns out infectious electronic and piano/vocal tracks for popular consumption.
