"By the time we get out of the studio, there's hundreds of bits and pieces lying around on disks, and we re-program the whole thing and sometimes throw the whole thing out and program it again," explains Alex on the process of preparing for live shows. "We try to recreate the feel of the album and then bring something else to it."

In the future, Transglobal Underground may use less tuned instruments live, and more percussion.

"We're getting quite excited by that and it's something we want to explore more," he says. "Whether that will happen or not I don't know. Often we'll have one intention and it will go in the exact opposite direction. We don't have any rules and the way we work is quite random: we just get inspired by whatever is happening at the time."
