Meat Beat Manifesto are notorious for drastically CHANGING their sound for each album, and their latest effort, "Subliminal Sandwich." continues this trend. While Meat Beat's last album, "Satyricon," had a very melodic, almost pop sound to it, the new release is quite a bit more experimental sounding. More often than not, traditional sung vocals are downplayed in favor of more ambient soundscapes. As usual, elements of dub peacefully coexist with industrial noise, but the music on "Subliminal Sandwich" sounds quite a bit more cohesive and focused than Meat Beat's earlier work.

There are a few factors that contributed to Meat Beat Manifesto's new direction. This time around, the "group" was really only ONE PERSON - Jack Dangers. Dangers, who has also done REMIX work for such artists as David Byrne, Orbital, and David Bowie, now lives in SAN FRANCISCO, and long time collaborator Johhny Stephens chose to stay in England and start his own project. Stephens does appear on the album but only for a few tracks as a guest musician, but he won't be touring with the band.

Dangers has always proven to be good at pushing the music TECHNOLOGY to the limits, but for the new album he had some new equipment at his disposal. This was another contributing factor in the way the album turned out sounding.
