In January, Marc Almond will be releasing a new CD comprised primarily of his favorite cover songs. According to his official myspace page, the album will either be called “My Life” or “Stardom Road.” Marc has also been working on new material for what he says is his “last ever album of original songs.” That release, “Dining With Panthers” won’t be out until 2008, but you can currently hear demos on the myspace page. Also in the pipeline is “All The A’s,” a DVD collection featuring videos of his singles along with rare audio tracks. For those unfamiliar with Marc Almond, he started out as singer for Soft Cell (“Tainted Love”) and has gone on to release many great solo albums. I interviewed him back in 1999.

Also a glassblower, Janet truly makes each cake a work of art. And, most importantly, they are also delicious!!

Coldcut are running a remix contest for their latest release “Walk a Mile in My Shoes.” The group will be picking 3 winners to receive a copy of their album “Sound Mirrors.” While this may seem like a lot of work to get a CD, contest entrants are not being asked to do traditional remixes. Rather, it’s based around a fun Flash-based mixing module at yourspins.com that lets users change instrument sounds and levels for the various sections off a track. No special music or audio software is required. These kinds of things have been around for a while, but this is one of the most advanced ones we’ve seen, as you can remix the entire song rather than just a small loop.

Tina Root of Switchblade Symphony is back with an interesting new project called Tre Lux. The first full length CD, “A Strange Gathering,” came out in September and is composed entirely of cover songs! Tracks include “Never Let Me Down Again,” “Wild Horses,” “Every Day Is Halloween,” “What’s On Your Mind (Pure Energy)” “The Chauffeur” and “Black Hole Sun.” The music is quite a bit brighter sounding than Switchblade Symphony, and the eclectic mix of songs works surprisingly well. For more info (and to hear samples!), check out the Tre Lux website at : http://trelux.com/. Tina has just agreed to another interview, so if you have any question suggestions please email them.
